Arrival in NH - Supply Run at Wal Mart -- a SnowJoe!

On our first night -- after picking up the vans, driving to the hotel, having our welcome dinner - then we head to local Wal-Mart to get supplies for the van - and any last minute supplies that the students need.

For the vans --  I make sure each van has hand sanitizer, tissues, paper towels, and snacks.

(The coronavirus made that more of a challenge than usual: we purchased the last 5 hand sanitizers in the store!)

And -- this year -- for the first time -- we needed to purchase a "ROOF RAKE"

Our vans were more than 9 feet tall

It is the law in NH to make sure that after a snowfall, the top of vehicles are cleared off before driving on the road.  This makes sense, for safety reasons. However, when we picked up the vans (and we were being advised of this rule and the resulting $300 fine if ignored) I was trying to imagine myself clearing off the top of the vans with the kind of brush I used to have to clear off my windshield.  Hmmmmmmm

The gentleman at the van rental place seemed to be reading my mind. And when I wondered about whether I could use a broom, a look of horror went over his face.  "Those roofs cost $7,000! Each!"

I was instructed that we would need to purchase a "roof rake" to clear off the roof  without damaging it.

So, on our shopping adventures on our first night - we went looking for a roof rake.

Aaaaaand  -- here it is -- a SnowJoe!

While everyone else in Merrimack was home watching the Super Bowl, we were out hunting for a SnowJoe.

(Have you ever seen a Wal-Mart so deserted?!)

Students are excited about the prospect of seeing snow for the first time - and hoping we have enough accumulation for us to put this new equipment to good use.
